"You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me."

    -C.S. LEWIS

It's that time again..'Tis the season of the gift. I had a friend reach out to me the other day to ask how I felt about teacher gifts. I was so grateful that she asked because I definitely have some thoughts. Teachers are overworked and underpaid, so if we can't grant them more paid time off we should be giving them money. I know this may seem controversial to some but I don't believe that teachers want a framed class gift of their students' handprints, or a locket with the class picture inside, or a student autographed sweatshirt. Think about the span of the average teaching career--where would one house all of these "special gifts?" I do think a kid made card or craft with a thoughtful note of appreciation included is meaningful. I am all for home baked treats or flowers,  I just think they should be paired with a gift card that can be used anywhere like cash. Yes, teachers are tired so Starbucks gift cards seem like a no-brainer, but if you give them cash or a Visa gift card they get to choose where they would like to sip their coffee.... you know? Teacher PSA over.  Here is a really easy to make, super cute DIY card that your kids can make for those angels on earth we call teachers.

    4. Decorate your cup. You could use chalk markers, paint, washi tape, or a combination of all of the above. I used a combo of chalk makers and washi tape.

    5. Hot glue the edges of your cup to your folded card.

    6. Stretch out your cotton balls to look like steam rising from your tea cup.

    7. If you are making a gift card holder attach your steam to the back of your gift card with glue dots.
